The Harlem Youth Publishing Empowerment (HYPE) was founded in 2010 by award wining visual artist of Tisdale Studio and founding publisher of Harlem World Magazine Danny Tisdale in the belief that the arts have a unique power to engage all youth—regardless of background, ability, or socioeconomic status—and motivate them toward excellence. Since its founding, HYPE has impacted the lives of thousands of youth.
“I want to be part of a program that is relevant/ current…like the media and Facebook.”
“I like taking pictures, and making videos with my phone…and it would be nice to make a living do this.”
“The media is what is real…and I want to do something in the media, but I don’t know how to get started.”
“I wish more programs out there taught us about what we wanted to do in life ( college or no college), I feel like these programs have their ideas of what I should become.”
